The Kansas Enrichment Network is proud to host the 2018 Kansas Afterschool Educator Pre-Conference and Conference events on April 6-7, 2018 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, 4801 Rockhill Road, in Kansas City, Missouri. This annual event provides quality professional development and networking opportunities for afterschool educators and professionals throughout the state. Courses will be approved for clock hours in both Kansas and Missouri.
An opportunity for in-depth, day-long training with three different options from which to choose. Programs can send representatives to sessions of interested, and then attendees can share their learnings with others. Pre-Conference sessions will run from 9:00 AM-3:30 PM, and lunch will be provided.
STEM and Equity- Dimensions of Success and Quality STEM Programs
Join MaryAnn Stimmer and Ben Dworken, from STEMeducators in New York, on Friday April 6th at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. In this training, you will gain insight on the Dimensions of Success Toolkit, features of a STEM learning environment, STEM knowledge and practices, and youth development in STEM. Attendees will have time to network with other afterschool professionals and begin to create STEM lesson plans that they can implement within their program right away!

Guiding Children’s Behavior
Join Lina Eisele, from the Wisconsin Afterschool Network, on Friday April 6th at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. In this training, you will learn about specific strategies to prevent behavior problems, when to intervene, and how to guide children in making decision related to behavior. This training is designed for front-line staff and will require “pre-work” before attending on April 6th.

Lemonade for Life
Join Michael Lemon and Stefanie Olson, from the Lemonade for Life team at the Center for Public Partnerships and Research at the University of Kansas on Friday, April 6th at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. Lemonade for Life trains professionals working with parents and caregivers on use of the ACEs Questionnaire. The goal of Lemonade for Life is to help prevent future exposure to ACEs while promoting hope and resiliency.

2018 Kansas Afterschool Educator Conference Summary
The Kansas Enrichment Network is hosting the annual Afterschool Educators Conference on Saturday, April 7 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This one-day conference brings together afterschool educators from Kansas and Missouri to learn, network, and celebrate afterschool. Session topics will include STEM, social emotional learning, healthy living, leadership, art, and youth development.
