On Thursday, March 9, the Kansas Enrichment Network hosted the annual Day at the Capitol event. The Kansas Regional Afterschool Ambassadors, KC STEM Alliance, Olathe Northwest High School First Robotics team, Quincy Elementary Visual Arts Learning Academy, and Topeka French Middle School STEAM program gathered on the second floor rotunda to share information about the positive impact out-of-school time programming has for youth, families, and communities. The students delivered lemon clock STEM kits to each legislator, and the ambassadors met with their legislators to share the latest about their afterschool programs. The rotunda was full of enrichment activities such a comic book art and marshmallow DNA. The ambassadors and students were recognized on the House floor when Representative Wilson read a resolution about out-of-school time programming. The day ended with observing committee meetings and hearing from Representatives Wilson and Murnan about current legislation.
